SEREMBAN, June 28 --The Negeri Sembilan state government has approved the Guidelines on Objections to Communication Infrastructure that provide a solution in dealing with complaints or objections from the people against the development of infrastructure fairly and efficiently.

MCMC in a statement today said the guidelines which it developed with the state government, was to safeguard the people rights to live and work in a safe environment and free from unsafe conditions.

It is also to ensure that communication infrastructure can be developed in an orderly and sustainable manner in line with the high demand for communication technology, the statement said, adding that MCMC was thankful to the state government for the approval.

Stakeholders including the State Economic Planning Unit, the Local Government Division as well as the telecommunications industry would continue to use the guidelines as a reference for the development of telecommunications infrastructure in the state, read the statement.

On Jan 27, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun was reported to have said that the state government was forced to postpone the construction of telecommunication towers in several areas following protests from residents who did not want the towers to be built close to their homes.
