KOTA KINABALU: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission is currently rectifying poor internet access problem in Tenom.
A statement from the regulator for the converging communications and multimedia industry in Malaysia that was issued on Saturday, said a communication tower is expected to be built in Kg Bamban, Tenom and scheduled to be completed in April next year.
“Bernama reported on June 24 that a number of teachers in Tenom have to drive as far as 40km to Kampung Bamban and Kampung Batu 14 to ensure smooth running of schooling via home-based teaching and learning (PdPR), as online classes are unable to be implemented due to poor internet connection.
“The MCMC has previously identified the problems faced by residents in the area. Therefore, MCMC would like to inform that a communication tower is under construction in Kg Bamban and the construction is expected to be completed in April 2022.
“Another tower will be built near Kg Mile 14, under the initiative of the National Digital Network (JENDELA) plan and the construction will begin in early 2022,” said the statement.
Construction of both towers is expected to increase the coverage of internet access in the area as well as enable residents to carry out their daily activities smoothly.
