The Malaysian Reserve - Celcom partners with Allo to expand home connectivity services

Celcom Axiata Berhad (Celcom) through its subsidiaries, enters into an access agreement with Allo Technology Sdn. Bhd. (Allo), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), to provide high speed broadband and convergence services to more homes and businesses in the country.

In a statement today Celcom said the partnership enables both companies to rapidly extend the delivery of High-Speed Broadband (HSBB) Network Services to more areas in Peninsular Malaysia.

‘By leveraging Allo’s HSBB network infrastructure and expertise, Celcom will expand its coverage of Celcom Home Fibre™ to more households.

“Celcom will immediately be able to expand its market reach to additional 80, 000 homes in selected areas within Melaka, Perak and Cyberjaya,” said Celcom.

More premises expect to benefit from Celcom’s home fibre connectivity as Allo plans to expand the infrastructure to other states such as Selangor, Kedah, Johor, Penang and Negeri Sembilan covering over 150, 000 homeshis partnership with Allo.

As part of a pilot program, Celcom and Allo will be providing free connectivity to selected homes in Melaka.

The selected families from a few towns in Melaka, including Felda Kemendor in Jasin will be able to enjoy the connectivity service free for six months, to facilitate the households who are working or studying from home.

“Amidst the pandemic, change in consumer behavior has spurred a tremendous growth of data usage and demand for better internet connectivity. Converged Broadband services has evolved into a crucial enabler to the economy, impacting the lives of many Malaysians through e-Learning, Work-from-Home and many more.

“This agreement also serves as an extension of our continuous journey for converged connectivity, marking another collaboration and milestone,”said Idham Nawawi, CEO of Celcom Axiata Bhd.
